Mustangs Win in Three Over the Yellowjackets
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa | With a stellar offensive performance, the Mustangs sweep the Graceland Yellowjackets in three, with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-15.
Right from the start, the Mustangs proved to be a dominant force offensively after recording 14 kills to pair with a .294 hitting percentage to win set one. Set two had a similar result as the Mustangs recorded ten kills with a .304 hitting percentage to top the Yellowjacket's eight kills and .000 hitting percentage, allowing the Mustangs to take set two. The Mustangs would win set three after collecting 11 kills and a .118 hitting percentage to end the match 3-0 over the Yellowjackets.
Jenna Brown paved the way for the Mustang offense after recording ten kills off of 18 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage. Bella Dantzler stepped up her game offensively after ending the match with a career-high .778 hitting percentage after recording eight kills out of nine attack attempts. Sam Schrage would end the top three attackers for the Mustangs with six kills and a .158 hitting percentage. Hailey Hested was able to collect 29 assists and seven digs, with Rylie Mussman adding 18 digs.
Brenna Crabtree was the top attacker for the Yellowjackets, with six kills out of 25 attempts for a .040 hitting percentage. Ella Thomas was close behind in kills with five kills off of 17 attempts for a .118 hitting percentage. Hailey Kauweloa was able to collect nine assists and six digs in the match, with Shelby Jabour adding 16 digs for the Yellowjackets.
The Mustangs will be back at home on Tuesday, October 22nd, as William Penn travels to Hennessey Recreation Center for a conference matchup, with first serve beginning at 7:00 PM CDT.
