
Mustangs Fall to the Eagles in a Three Set Sweep
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa | The Eagles of Central Methodist snap the Mustangs' two-game win streak after sweeping the Mustangs in three straight sets.
The Eagles prevented the Mustangs from getting much offensively after holding the Mustangs to only recording five kills and a .000 hitting percentage and taking set one 25-13. In set two, the Mustangs were able to get a better outcome offensively after recording ten kills despite a -.041 hitting percentage, but the Eagles would take set two 25-18. The Mustangs had a similar fate in set three by being held to only a .100 hitting percentage, falling to the Eagles 25-11.
Jenna Brown was the leading attacker for the Mustangs after recording seven kills with a .174 hitting percentage, as well as collecting two blocks. Sam Schrage followed right behind Brown as she collected six kills with a .143 hitting percentage and two blocks. Hailey Hested ended the match with 20 assists and 13 digs, with Rylie Mussman adding 15 digs.
The Eagles' Annabelle Maassen helped guide her team to a win after recording nine kills with a .241 hitting percentage. Martina Gonzato was right with Maassen, also with nine kills and a .238 hitting percentage. Guilia Gainelli and Gabi Owczarek would both end the match with 18 assists a piece.
The Mustangs will be back on the court Friday, October 18th, as they face off against Peru State, with first serve set for 7:00 PM.
