FAYETTE, Mo. - Stifling offense from Central Methodist was able to overwhelm the Mustang defense, as the nationally ranked Eagles from CMU took Saturday's contest, winning 5-0.
Mariana Barreto scored a hat-trick to pace the Eagle offense, scoring her first in the fourth minute of the game off a pass from Minori Saze. Just 11 minutes later, Barreto netted her second of the game unassisted as the Eagles took the two goal lead into the halftime break.
In the 50th minute, Paula Castro scored her second of the year unassisted to extend the CMU lead to three. Barreto would net her third just nine minutes later off another pass from Saze, while Lorena Fuertes scored her first of the year in the 73rd minute to seal the five goal win for the Eagles.
The Mustangs will be back in action next weekend on the road.
