CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team earned a draw on Homecoming to close out the homestand, splitting the match with William Penn as the game ended at ones.
The Statesmen of William Penn got on the board first, as Lilly Cote took a pass from Isa Pietrangelo and was able to head the ball into the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Following the halftime break, Esther Attwood took a through ball from Ava D'Ambrosio and chipped it past the WPU keeper to square the game at one.
The Mustangs had a few chances early, stopped by the Statesmen keeper, who recorded five saves in the contest. Manuela Gutierrez only allowed one goal and recorded three saves.
The Mustangs will be back in action, taking on Graceland on the road in Lamoni on Wednesday.
