
Mustangs fall to Warriors in spring debut
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Waldorf scored twice in the opening 17 minutes of the match and cruised to a 4-1 victory over Mount Mercy in the spring debut for the Mustang women's soccer team at Hadzic Field.
Sydney Boyd scored twice and assisted another while Courtnie Turner also added two goals for the Warriors. Shelby Vermeulen (JR/La Center) notched Mount Mercy's lone goal in the 71st minute. Goalkeeper Grace Byers (SO/Marion, Iowa) stopped seven shots for the Mustangs as Sara Rodriguez and Bri Schneidewind combined for a pair of saves for the Warriors (8-6).
Mount Mercy (1-11) have two matches coming up against Clarke. The first is on Sunday, April 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Hadzic Field, then the Mustangs go to Dubuque to face the Pride on Sunday, April 18, also at 2:00 p.m.
