MENOMONIE, Wisc. - The Mustangs faced a battle on Wednesday, facing off against NCAA opponent UW-Stout, falling by a score of 15-4.
The Blue Devils opened the scoring as Mai Nou Vang scored just ten seconds into the contest, but the Mustangs would tie it up after Princess Tacla scored to even the game at one. The game would nearly head into the second quarter tied, but Riley Schulte took a pass from Vang and gave UW-Stout a one goal lead.
The Blue Devils would carry the momentum into the second frame, scoring six unanswered before Brooke Caffrey put the ball in the net. The Blue Devils would head into the half up seven with a 9-2 scoreline. The Blue Devils would then add three more in the third, while scoring three in the fourth to ultimately extend their lead, but Mollie Lyon and Caffrey each added a fourth quarter goal to add to the Mustang efforts.
Scarlett Belle Martinez was fantastic in net, recording a new career high of 18 saves, while only allowing 15 goals. The Mustangs will close out the home portion of the regular season on Saturday, taking on UHSP, with faceoff set for 11 a.m.
