Mustangs End the Heart Preview in Fourth
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Mustang women's golf team held their position on the leaderboard on Tuesday, ending the Heart Conference Preview in fourth place.
Park won the event at a team score of 70-over, which was a four shot victory over second place William Penn. From there, Baker ended in third place while MMU came in 21 shots behind the Wildcats to earn fourth place.
Sophia Honeyman and Carli Irvine each ended in a tie for eighth at 24-over. Honeyman fired a final round score of six-over 78 as she shot three-over on the back nine. Irvine, not far behind, would fire a final round score of seven-over 79, as she would also shoot three-over on the back nine.
Lauren McPhillips-Newcomb ended her tournament 12th overall and third on the team at 27-over. The freshman fired a four-over front nine while adding a birdie and a pair of pars on the back. Kyla Johnson rounded out the Mustang countable scores at 40-over in the two round tournament, carding eight pars, with four on each side of the course.
The Mustangs will take the winter off and prepare for the spring season starting up in early 2025.
