Mustangs Fall to Bearcats in Exhibition Game
LEBANON, Ill - After a dominant victory earlier in the week, the Mount Mercy women's basketball team struggled to find their offensive rhythm in an 88-55 exhibition loss to the McKendree Bearcats.
The Mustangs had difficulty converting shots, managing just 21 points in the first half, including only nine in the second quarter. While the team found more offensive success in the second half, scoring a game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, the Bearcats continued to outshoot them, securing the win.
Claudia VanZant led the Mustangs with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed four rebounds. Sadie Struchen followed with 11 points, shooting 5-of-8, while Malie Marfil chipped in six points, going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. As a team, the Mustangs finished with a 41.7 shooting percentage (20-of-48) for the game.
Baylie Parks paced the Bearcats with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Tessa Crawford and Maci Meyer each scored 17 points. The Bearcats shot 30-of-57 from the field and 20-of-28 from the free-throw line.
The Mustangs will hit the court on November 13th as they travel to face off against the Statesmen of William Penn for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
