CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy women's basketball team made it five straight wins on Saturday, defeating Baker, 92-71, in a Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup at Hennessey Recreation Center.
The Mustangs led wire-to-wire and were by up by as many as 25 points late in the third quarter. They shot 48.5 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Wildcats, 49-31. Now 7-3 at home, Mount Mercy improved to 13-7 overall and 11-6 in the Heart while Baker dipped to 3-18 and 3-14 in conference play.
All five Mustang starters scored in double figures and two had double-doubles. Annika Headington totaled 25 points and 11 rebounds while Madison Dreckman finished with 11 points and 12 boards. Anais Bonnemaison had 15 points. Madison Skelton tallied 11 points, four boards, and a game-high seven assists. Malie Marfil chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Leah Van Weelden topped the Wildcats with 22 points. Jaelyn Two Hearts poured in 20 off the bench to go with six rebounds. Alyssa Morris scored 13 points and snared nine boards.
Mount Mercy is on the road for two in a row, beginning with a trip to Lamoni on Wednesday at face Graceland (9-11, 7-9 Heart) at 5:30 pm.
