Mustangs win first of back-to-back Heart road games

FAYETTE, Mo. -- The Mount Mercy women's basketball team once again built a double-digit halftime lead and defeated Central Methodist for the first time as a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference, 80-61, on Tuesday night at Puckett Field House.

Madison Dreckman posted her fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds. Malie Marfil added 17 points and six boards while Karlie Krogman scored 12 points off the bench. Madison Skelton chipped in six points and tied Dreckman with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Eagles (9-9, 6-8 Heart) were led in scoring by reserves B'Aunce Carter with 12 points and Genet Mebratu with 10. Zutorya Cook tallied nine points and a team-high seven rebounds. Sa'Mya Stevens, Miaya Ware, and Tynesha Parnell had six points apiece.

Mount Mercy's doubleheader at Central Methodist was rescheduled twice due to weather, which means the Mustangs (11-7, 9-6 Heart) will play back-to-back nights this week. They take on Missouri Valley (9-10, 7-8 Heart) on Wednesday at 5:30 pm at Burns Athletic Complex in Marshall, Mo.
