Pride get best of Mustangs in Heart matchup

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- After a solid start, Mount Mercy couldn't keep up with 13th-ranked Clarke as the visiting Pride cruised to an 82-46 victory over the Mustangs in Monday night's Heart of America Athletic Conference women's basketball game at Hennessey Recreation Center.

Clarke (5-1, 3-1 Heart) had an edge in nearly every statistical category, but none more glaring than a 53-33 rebounding advantage. The Pride also forced 20 turnovers and totaled 15 assists. Mount Mercy (0-2, 0-2 Heart) did finish with seven blocks and seven steals but shot only 29.5 percent from the field, including a 3-for-13 night from 3-point range.

McKenzie Stoehr (JR/Granada Hills, Calif.) was the lone Mustang in double figures with 12 points. Sarah Moffett (SR/Mount Pleasant, Iowa) added six points. Kyla Richardson (JR/Maywood, Ill.) had a team-high four rebounds, Kennedi Fulwylie (SR/Detroit, Mich.) three blocked shots.

Tina Ubl led four Pride in double digits with 17 points to go along with seven rebounds. Giana Michels tallied 14 points and seven boards, Emma Kelchen 11 points, and Makenna Haase 10 points and five rebounds. Sylar Culbertson handed out four assists.

Mount Mercy faces another difficult test this weekend, traveling to Des Moines to face Grand View (8-1, 3-1 Heart) at 2:00 p.m.
