Mustangs Gallop Over Wildcats in Conference Clash

CANTON, Mo. - Mount Mercy's men's volleyball team bounced back from a second-set slip to defeat Culver-Stockton on the road, 3-1, in Friday night's conference clash. The Mustangs won with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-20. 

The Mustangs opened strong with a .267 hitting percentage and 12 kills in a dominant 25-15 first-set win, while limiting the Wildcats to just a .031 clip.

The Wildcats responded in the second, hitting a match-high .323 with 15 kills. Despite the Mustangs posting 16 kills on a .294 clip, the Wildcats edged out a 25-23 victory to even the match at one set apiece.

Regaining momentum in the third, the Mustangs used a pivotal seven-point run—sparked by Brian Lynch at the service line—to take the set 25-19. They sealed the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth, hitting a match-best .342 with 18 kills for the 3-1 victory.

Pere Font Torres led the Mustang attack with 13 kills on a .364 hitting percentage, while Douglas Fofano followed with 12 kills, hitting .321. Matthew Krzos added nine kills while hitting .643 and contributed five blocks. Maks Cabajewski paced the offense with 42 assists, and Gustavo Kehl Bauer chipped in 13. Richard Struska anchored the defense with a match-high 23 digs.

Clyde Harold led the Wildcats with 13 kills and a .312 hitting percentage. Rio Victor added 10 kills, while Matt Reese and Owen Randle tallied 22 and 14 assists, respectively.

Mount Mercy (20-4, 14-3 Heart) will hit the road one final time this season as they face off against No. 3 Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
