
Mustangs Extend Win Streak with Sweep of Yellowjackets
LAMONI, Iowa - Mount Mercy's men's volleyball team secured a road win Saturday after sweeping the Graceland Yellowjackets, 3-0, with set scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-16.
Right from the opening serve, the Mustangs established momentum and control of the match. The opening set saw the Mustangs claim an early 1-0 lead with a dominant 25-13 win, hitting .400 and recording 14 kills, with Maks Cabajewski delivering the set-winning kill.
Set two produced a similar result, as the Mustangs extended their lead to 2-0 after another commanding 25-13 victory. They then closed out the match with a dominant finish in set three, winning 25-16 after securing the final five points.
The Mustang offensive attack was led by Brian Lynch, who recorded 14 kills on a .250 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs and three service aces. Kevin Fiedler followed with eight kills on a blistering .727 hitting percentage, while Sven Krieg also contributed eight kills, hitting .412 with seven digs. Cabajewski guided the Mustangs with 32 assists and 10 digs.
Elijah Kline led the Yellowjackets with nine kills and a .179 hitting percentage, while Andrew Youssef followed with five kills and a .267 hitting percentage. Christopher Sawyer paced the Yellowjackets with 14 assists, and Andrew Cziep contributed 10 digs.
Mount Mercy (15-3, 10-2 HEART) will be back on the road on Tuesday, March 18th, as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to face the Grand View Vikings starting at 7:00 p.m.
