
Mustangs Bounce Back in Victory Over Trolls
CHICAGO, Ill. - Mount Mercy's men's volleyball team secured a victory on Saturday after sweeping the Trinity Christian Trolls, 3-0, with set scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-15.
From the opening serve, the Mustangs had momentum on their side. In set one, they out-hit the Trolls, recording 10 kills and a .304 hitting percentage while limiting their opponents to seven kills and a -.038 hitting percentage. The Mustangs took the first set 25-15. Set two followed a similar pattern, as the Mustangs won 25-19 after hitting .400 and collecting 15 kills, edging out the Trolls' 10 kills and .348 hitting percentage. The final set also went to the Mustangs, 25-15, securing the match 3-0.
Guglielmo Illotti was an offensive force for the Mustangs, recording a team-high 17 kills on 28 attempts for a .607 hitting percentage. Raphael Massara followed with four kills and an impressive .667 hitting percentage, while Laurin Oldenburg and Ryan Usher also contributed four kills each. Maks Cabajewski helped lead the Mustangs' strong offense, dishing out 28 assists and collecting four digs, with Douglas Fofano adding seven digs.
The Trolls were led offensively by Connor Dargan, who recorded six kills and a .346 hitting percentage. C.J. Lafin and Austin Risser contributed four kills apiece.
The Mustangs will be back on the court on February 4 as they host Judson at Hennessey Recreation Center, with the first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
