BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Mount Mercy men's soccer team earned a draw in Heart of America conference play, splitting the match with Baker, 2-2.
Akira Itadani got the scoring started for Baker, scoring just 10 minutes in to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Pablo Lopez took a ball from Diego Carrasco to tie the game at one ten minutes later, as the game would be all square heading into the half.
In the 78th minute, Pablo Ortega Herreros took a pass from Leonardo Franco to give the Mustangs their first lead of the game, as the game would be 2-1. The lead would only last for about seven minutes as Reilly Marlow-Jones was fed the ball from Evans Osei Amankwah to tie the game at two, which would hold to be the final.
Zach Biggs earned the draw in his second start of the season, moving his record to 1-0-1. Biggs would record four saves while only allowing two goals. The Mustangs would hold the 15-11 lead in shots, while each team would record six corners.
The Mustangs will next return to the pitch to take on the defending NAIA champions in MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe next Saturday.
