Mustangs Run in Leatherneck Classic Ends in First Round of Bracket Play
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Mount Mercy Mustangs men's bowlers had their run in the Leatherneck Classic end in the first round of bracket play on Sunday.
In the Baker qualifying, the Mustangs would place third, trailing Webber International and the eventual tournament champion Wichita State. In the first round, the Mustangs took on Newman, and would lose the first game of a best of three by a score of 223-221. In game two, Newman was able to pull away as the Mustangs would fall, 221-187.
In round two, Newman would end up falling to eventual champion Wichita State, before the Shockers took down fellow NAIA school Webber International in the final.
The Mustangs will return to the lanes at the Warhawk Open on December 7.
