Mustangs Earn First Tournament Win of the Season
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In the first home tournament of the fall season, the Mustangs edged out fellow competitors for their first tournament win of the young season, winning the qualifiers before earning a win in Baker games to earn the win.
After placing sixth following the first game of the tournament, the Mustangs would bounce back in game two, recording the second highest total in game two with a team total of 1021. The Mustangs would be dominant over the final two team games of qualifying, recording the highest team total in the tournament in game four at 1216, followed by a 1071 in game five, narrowly edging out St. Ambrose to earn the top spot in qualifying. In the Baker games, the Mustangs would once again edge out the Bees of SAU by 16 pins, earning the tournament victory with a total pin count of 9407.
In qualifying, Keaton Ostrowski would place third overall, and first on the squad with a tournament average of 222.8, good for a total pin count of 1114. Ostrowski would record a tournament high of 279 in game four. In second on the team with four games bowled was Zach Andresen, who ended with a tournament average of 219.5 while recording a pin count of 878. Andresen saw his highest game of the tournament in his final game, recording a score of 275.
Owen Jones was not far behind Andresen, with a four game total of 853, good for an average of 213.3. Jones would fire off a tournament best 266 in his third game. Behind Jones was Robert Vater, who ended his tournament with an average of 216 over three games. Vater had a tournament high of 245 in his second game bowled.
