Men's Bowling Finishes 12th at Midwest Collegiate Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wisc. - The Mount Mercy men's bowling team finished 12th at the Midwest Collegiate Championships, held in Wauwatosa.

Zach Andreson once again led the Mustangs in the tournament, ending the final day with an average of 229.6 pins per game, which was good for the eighth highest total out of the entire field. Andreson had his highest game of the day come in the opener, bowling a 267. He followed that up with three more scores over 200, with two of those being over a 240, ending the tournament with a total pin count of 1148. Behind him in 20th was Blake Walsh, averaging a pin count of 218 over five games. Walsh recorded the highest round on the team, firing off a 277 in game three on the final day of the tournament.

In 55th overall was Andru Blaney, who recorded an average pin count of 207, good for a total pin count of 1035. Blaney had his highest pin count come in the opener, scoring a 258, while he followed that up in game two with a 246. Just eight total pins behind Blaney was Robert Vater, averaging 205.4 pins per game. Vater had three games over 200 on the final day of the tournament, with his highest pin count coming in the opener at a 247.

The Mustangs will next be at the lanes at the Five Seasons Classic, held at May City Bowl in Cedar Rapids, with competition slated to begin on Saturday, October 19.
