
Mustangs haul in postseason awards
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Mount Mercy standouts Brooke Salzman, Zach Andresen, Andru Blaney, and Megan Kolberg garnered awards for the 2023-24 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season at last week's Intercollegiate Singles Championships and Intercollegiate Team Championships.
The awards, named by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) and Storm/International Bowling Media Association (IBMA), were presented on April 17 at the Night of Champions banquet at the Louisville Marriott East. The inaugural class of the USBC Collegiate Hall of Fame was also inducted.
Salzman and Andresen swept the NCBCA Rookie of the Year awards and were joined on the all-rookie team by Blaney. Salzman was the women's rookie of the year after leading the nation in average differential (36.90) and collecting two individual wins on the way to a 204.49 average. Andresen earned the men's rookie of the year honor with one win, four top-five finishes, five top-10 finishes, and an average of 212.50.
Salzman was also named a first-team NCBCA all-American and an IBMA Bowler of the Year runner-up, while Andresen and Kolberg, a first-team all-American last year, received honorable mention all-America honors.
