
Mustangs advance to ITC Nationals
Addison, Ill. -- For the fourth year in a row, the Mount Mercy bowling teams have qualified for the Intercollegiate Team Championships and will compete at ITC Nationals next month at Kingpin Lanes in Jeffersontown, Ky.
The top-ranked women's team dominated the field at Stardust Bowl at the Addison Sectional, finishing first with a total pinfall of 13,130 over 64 Baker games. That was nearly 400 pins more than runner-up Duquesne who had 12,716 pins. Also advancing were St. Francis (Ill.) with 12,178 pins and Saint Xavier with 12,149.
On the men's side, the third-ranked Mustang were runner-up with a total pinfall of 13,307. That included a 299 Baker game. Wisconsin-Whitewater was just ahead of them with 13,546 pins. McKendree (13,162) and Midland (13,123) also move on to nationals.
Five Mustangs made it out of the Addison Sectional during singles competition and will compete at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships, also in Jeffersontown. Kai Yamada qualified for the second time after taking the top spot in Addison with 1,450 pins. Teammate Kyle Rosenberg moves on as well after a third-place finish with a total pinfall of 1,412.
Three Mount Mercy women's bowlers made it to ISC Nationals. A Mustang won the women's sectional as well as Mackenzie Ullian finished first with 1,329 pins. Megan Kolberg was third with 1,319 pins and Elena Carr placed fourth with a total pinfall of 1,318. Carr also qualified for the second time in her career.
The ISC and ITC national championships are slated for April 17-20 at Kingpin Lanes in Jeffersontown.
