Mustangs Drop Heartbreaker in Overtime to Briar Cliff

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Four Mustangs score in double figures in a Wednesday night loss to Briar Cliff, as the Mustangs fall to the Chargers in overtime, 82-78.

Down by as many as 13 in the first half, the Mustangs would charge back to open the second half, taking their largest lead of the game at the 9:30 mark left in regulation. Down by two with four seconds left, Jaxson Fried went to the line and sank both free throws to send the game to overtime. The teams would go back-and-forth in the extra frame, but the Chargers would ultimately pull away for the win.

The Mustangs were paced on offense by Jaxson Fried, scoring 20 points on 6-11 shooting. He was joined in double figures by Aidan Yamilkoski who ended with 14, while Ahmad Ingram and Cameron Williams each poured in 13. Elijah Ward led all rebounders in the game with 11, including four on the offensive end.

For the Chargers, they saw a dominant outing from Matthew Stilwill, as Stilwill led all scorers in the game with 34 points, including 10-23 from the field and 11-13 from the charity stripe. Not only was Stilwill the leading scorer, he was also the leading rebounder on BCU, earning a double-double with 10 rebounds. Two other Chargers scored in double figures, as Jaxson Wingert scored 12 while Jamison Helmers added 11.

The Mustangs will travel on the road on Saturday, taking on Columbia in Missouri.
