Webber Bats Overpower Mustangs in Doubleheader Sweep

BABSON PARK, Fla. - The eighth-ranked Webber International Warriors offense overpowered the Mustangs on Sunday, sweeping the doubleheader by scores of 12-4 and 12-1.

Game One

The Mustangs were led on offense by a pair of hits from the top two batters in the lineup, as Jaden Hackbarth and Jeremy Figueroa each tallied a pair of hits. Six other Mustangs tallied hits in the game, with three of them going for extra bases.

The scoring got started for Webber in the bottom of the first as Camren Carroll drove in a run on a groundout. In the third, Ryan Recio blasted a three-run shot, extending the lead to four. Recio wasn't done, as he belted his second homer of the game to right center in the fifth, extending the lead to seven, before Skyler Schulz hit a homer of his own just two batters later.

The Mustangs were able to get on the board in the sixth, as Josh Notriano drove in a run on a single through the right side. Cedric Dunnwald added on with a homer to left field, which was his first of the season. Eric Pecson trimmed the lead to five on a solo shot to left in the eighth, before Webber was able to put the game away with a four run bottom half of the eighth. Drew Turner would add a solo shot in the ninth, his first of the year, as the Mustangs rounded out the scoring.

Dalton Robinson earned his third win of the 2025 campaign, pitching five innings of shutout ball, striking out eight. Tyler Nagelbach was tabbed with the loss, pitching four innings and allowing five earned runs.

Game Two

The finale of the series saw the Warrior bats once again overpower the Mustangs, tacking on three four-run innings. In the first, Jalen Martinez dealt the first blow of the game on a two-run single to right field. Martinez would then come across on a wild pitch to make it a three run game. Derek Einertson would then get a run back on a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Bryce Brown.

The Warriors answered with four more in the fourth inning, capped off by a Schulz RBI single to right field. Steven Nitch would add three more on a double to right center in the fifth, as the Warriors would take the game in seven innings.

Julian Balzer earned the win, throwing two innings of one-hit ball, striking out three. Jack Turgasen was tabbed with the loss, throwing 0.2 innings and allowing four runs.

The Mustangs will look ahead to next weekend, hosting the home opener, starting off with St. Ambrose on Friday.
