Mustangs Beat Waldorf; Win Streak Reaches Five
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Mount Mercy baseball team took down Waldorf on Tuesday, winning by a score of 8-4 in Forest City as the win streak reaches five.
The Mustangs (18-17) saw two players with three-hit performances, as Brandon Bickford and Derek Einertson, while Tyler Pecson and Josh Notriano each recorded a pair of RBIs in the win.
The Mustangs got the scoring started first, as Notriano drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning. Jaden Hackbarth would follow that up with a single to right center, scoring Bickford, as MMU jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. Waldorf answered in the bottom half of the inning as Zach Meyer homered to right center.
In the third, Bickford scored his second run of the game on a double play, while Tyler Pecson recorded a two-RBI double in the fourth as the Mustangs extended their lead to four. Waldorf would trim the lead down to one, following a single to right field and a two-run shot from Rylee Rauch.
From then on, it was all Mount Mercy, as Nick Meyer drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, while Notriano drove in another run on a double, and Cedric Dunnwald drew a bases loaded walk, as the Mustangs win streak reched five following the 8-4 win.
Nathan Pardini earned the win, pitching two innings in relief and not allowing a hit, while striking out three. Titan Klunder was tabbed with the loss for Waldorf, pitching three innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out four.
