Mustang Weekly Recap (Oct. 14-20)

Mustang Weekly Recap (Oct. 14-20)

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Mustangs enjoyed two more wins in Heart conference play, taking down Peru State in four sets and Graceland in three. In the Peru State match, senior setter Hailey Hested once again set a new school record, this time for assists in a four set match. Jenna Brown had a remarkable stat line, ending the match with 22 kills and had a hitting percentage of .447 on 38 attempts. Brown would be the leading hitter once again against Graceland, ending with 10 kills and zero errors. Bella Dantzler had one of her better stat lines of the season, ending with a .778 hitting percentage with eight kills on nine attempts.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Mustangs fell on the road to MidAmerica Nazarene, 4-0. Goalkeeper Manuela Gutierrez recorded six saves in the loss.

MEN'S SOCCER: MMU men's soccer fell to MidAmerica Nazarene on the road, 2-1. Senior Antonio Cuellar got the lone goal for the Mustangs while Chafik Elidrissi tallied the assist. Goalkeepers Zach Biggs and Alejandro Cuende combined for five saves, with Biggs recording four of them.

WOMEN'S BOWLING: The women's bowling team enjoyed a dominant performance at the Five Seasons Classic, sponsored by Cedar Rapids Tourism. The Mustangs swept through qualifying with a 10-0 record, while dominating in the Baker games to earn their first tournament win of the season. An interesting note from head coach Andy Diercks, both Mustang JV teams beat out most varsity teams at the tournament, as the JV squads would have finished in third and fourth in the varsity bracket, behind only the MMU varsity team and Missouri Baptist.

MEN'S BOWLING: The Mustang men's bowlers secured their first tournament win of the season at the Five Seasons Classic, sponsored by Cedar Rapids Tourism. After falling behind after game one in qualifying, the men's bowlers were dominant in games four and five to take first place in qualifying over St. Ambrose before earning the top spot after the Baker games, securing their first team title.
